Christmas Musical 2019


This morning we had a Christmas Cheer Chapel. Dressed in red and green, with lots of Santa hats and reindeer antlers, we gathered together in the gym to sing.

We love to sing and we join together regularly to praise and worship God with our voices and instruments.

We Love to Sing!


The students in Grade 3-4 have been thinking about how to use what they love to do to be a blessing to others. One thing they love to do is to draw and colour.

They wondered if they could create Christmas cards to sell and then give the proceeds to others in need.

The message inside each card was also written by the Grade 3-4 students. Inside each card it says:

**_Merry Christmas!_**

**_May your celebration of Jesus’ birthday be filled with joy!_**

As a class they discussed where the money should go and finally decided to give all the proceeds to Community Food Share in Morrisburg. After doing the Williamsburg Food Drive in October and learning how the Community Food Share makes a difference, they decided that they wanted to strengthen that relationship.

They have created packs of 8 cards for $5. If you are interested in buying a pack, or two, please contact the office at 613-535-2687 or office@tcswilliamsburg.ca. Cards will be available until December 20.

Christmas Card Service Project


Our Fall Membership Meeting was last week and we had the opportunity to do something a little different.

We asked everyone to consider two questions:

- What is important at TCS?
- What is unique about being part of the TCS community?

Members and supporters sat around tables to write and talk about their ideas.

Those questions were the focus of our recent Community Circle. During a Community Circle we all gather together as a school community to talk about some important issues. We want everyone to have a voice and for everyone’s ideas to be heard.

This process often includes lots of sticky notes and giving students a chance to write or draw their response. From our big circle, students break into small circles with their Kingdom Building Groups.

Students thought of lots of amazing things about the school and what is important to them. Some of their ideas were:

- caring teachers
- books
- small classes
- singing songs about God
- reading the Bible
- building our faith with people
- we have Fab Fridays
- we have a gaga ball pit
- buddies in the whole school
- our friendly atmosphere

From there, we sorted their ideas into 3 piles …. things that build knowledge, things that build faith, and things that build community.

We closed our Community Circle by giving thanks to God for his faithfulness to the school. We pray that everyday we will love God and love others.

Thursday, November 28 is our Fall Membership Meeting. During the meeting we will be asking you the same questions as we develop our core values: What is important at TCS? What is unique about being part of the TCS community? What do you like about TCS?

Plan on coming to the meeting to have your voice and ideas heard about what is important at TCS.

The meeting begins at 7pm in the school gym. We hope to see you there.


What's important?


Last week Monday, we took some time to remember those who sacrifice and give so much during times of war.

We learned about the symbol and importance of the poppy. We listened to the poem, _In Flanders Fields_.

Before this gathering, every student had created a poppy and together we created a mural with everyone’s poppy.

We Remember


Friday morning is Kingdom Building Group morning, a chance to get together in our cross-grade groups. This morning we gathered with everyone in the gym. Kingdom Building Groups sat together and each member received a piece of a heart.

Love God. Love Others. That is our theme this year and this morning we thought about God’s love for us. God loves each and every one of us. He has created every person to be unique and special and amazing. God wants to use everyone’s uniqueness to love others.

We thought about how we can use what we love to show love to others:

- if you love hockey you can show love to others by inviting them to play a game with you
- if you love Pokemon you can love others by trading cards with them and asking about their favourite Pokemon
- if you love torondoes you can love others by telling them how to stay safe during storms
- if you love flowers you can show love by making a nice picture of flowers for someone.

Each student spent time drawing and writing on their piece of a heart about what they love and then those pieces were glued together to make one big heart for the group. The hearts were hung up on our theme bulletin board. Now we take a look and see what people love and think about how we can use what we love to show love for others.

Jesus said, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you much love one another. All men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.” John 13: 34-35

May we be filled with God’s love and may we share God’s love with everyone around us.

Today was a wet and rainy day, a day that we would have had indoor recess. Instead, we put on our rain coats and rubber boots, grabbed our umbrellas and took to the streets of Williamsburg.

We were going door to door to collect food for the Food Bank.

A few weeks before the students in Grade 1-4 created special flyers and wrote letters that were mailed to all the people in Williamsburg, telling them we were coming and asking them to consider helping.

We were very excited! We knew we had a chance to do something that would make a difference. We were going to meet our neighbours and ask them to share what they have with others. We were going to have a chance to live out our theme: Love God. Love Others.

It was amazing. We went and asked and people gave. People shared and showed love to others.

There were even some people who weren’t home who left a package of food for us to collect.

When we returned to the school we were even more amazed. So much food! Spaghetti sauce and baked beans, maple syrup and Kraft dinner, apple sauce and granola bars. There was so much food! The people in Williamsburg shared and showed love to others.

We gathered in a circle around the food and prayed. We thanked God for the people who gave food and we prayed for the people who will receive it. We gave thanks that we could join together with so many of our neighbours and show love to others. May the name of the Lord be praised!

Williamsburg Food Drive


Timothy Christian School exists to give students a firm foundation in knowledge and faith, equipping them to impact their community.

A few years ago we gave each student a special book that is their Faith Journey Journal. It is a place for them to write and draw their thoughts about their faith.

Three times during the year the students are asked to respond to a question about their faith.

- How is God like a friend?
- Why does God want to have a relationship with us?
- What things can I do regularly that will help me to develop a relationship with God?
- What do I believe? What do I have doubts about?
- What difference does it make for me that Jesus is supreme and in control of all things?

As the students grow and change their Faith Journey Journal goes with them. They can look back at what they thought when they were in Kindergarten or Grade 1 and see how their faith is growing.

Faith Journey Journals are providing students with a tangible way to think about their faith.

We pray that their faith will grow and that they will use who they are in Christ to be a blessing to others.

We echo the words of the apostle Paul, who wrote in Colossians 1, “We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God”
