Doing artwork gives us a chance to pause and reflect on what and why we remember.

On Remembrance Day we gathered together to listen to songs and poems. We had 2 minutes of silence and spent time in prayer to remember and to ask for peace.

Coming together for chapel allows us to communally remember and grieve. We bring everything to our God and Saviour and ask that he will use us to bring about peace.

May we never forget and may we always seek God’s peace.

We took advantage of the summer weather in October to spend lots of time outside.

We met with our buddies to do activities together.

- God’s faithfulness

Wednesday, September 30 was Orange Shirt Day, a day to remember Residential School survivors and their families.

The students in Grade 5-6 learned about this important day. They created a short video to encourage everyone to wear orange.

During the day, the students took time to reflect on the legacy of Residential Schools for Aboriginal people.

Orange Shirt Day


Buddy time is a favourite activity at TCS and this year we had to rethink how we do it.

We use pool noodles to give us a visual reminder to keep our distance.

We love building community with our buddies.

Buddy Time


The students in Grade 7-8 recently had a chance to go on a one day retreat.

Their day started with a time of devotions led by Pastor Aaron, focusing on the Goodness of God.

He talked about how many times God told the Israelites to remember how he had saved them from Egypt. He talked about the New Testament and how many times we are reminded of the cross.

In difficult times we need to look back and remember God’s faithfulness. Pastor Aaron shared stories from his own life and difficult times when he needed to remind himself of God’s goodness.

They did a team building activity where everyone had to work together to stack the cups with only an elastic band touching the cups. They discussed how it was easiest when everyone worked together and at the same speed, and how the second time was easier than the first. These lessons can apply in life as well.Kate Boles came and did fitness with them. She talked about how we are created uniquely and how we need to take care of ourselves. Having a healthy body is such a gift, and using it actively everyday shows appreciation for that gift and keeps us healthy.![](IMG_3235_abhkie)

Another team building activity took place where one person could see, one could talk and one was blindfolded. Together they were trying to find their team’s ball. They had to communicate to the blindfolded person in a way that would lead them to the ball. They talked about tuning out voices that are not helpful, about the difficulties of not being able to do something (see, speak, talk), and how important communication is within a group.![](20200916_140131_izl6rn)
An important component of the day was a time of reflection, where students wrote down their takeaways from devotions, team building activity and fitness, and wrote goals for the year.![](20200916_141928_dqiqdh)

They played yard games, chased cats, laughed, ate smores, made memories, and built community!


Grade 7-8 Retreat


On March 13 we held our closing chapel and dismissed for what we thought would be a 3 week long spring break. It turned into 12 weeks of Distance Learning with everyone learning in their own homes. June 19 was our closing virtual chapel and 11 weeks of summer holidays followed that.

Last Tuesday, September 8 was our first day of school since March 13. Wow! How wonderful to be back at school together.

Students in Grade 3-8 are wearing masks inside the building and desks are spaced out to allow for physical distancing.

We try to bring our students outside when possible. Thanks to volunteers, we have some amazing outdoor learning spaces.
