Seeing Jesus Shine in Others

By Heidi Blokland

Today the students in Grade 3, 4 and 5 led us in Chapel.

They sang This Little Light of Mine in French!

Then they presented a skit about how we can shine for Jesus. We learned that no matter what gifts God has given to us, we can all shine. We can help people by making things for them or teaching them things we love to do. God wants to use our talents and interests to be a blessing to others.

The students in Grade 3, 4 and 5 have been thinking for a while about shining and things they have noticed about their classmates. They spent some class time brain storming about how they are shining and encouraging each other to shine more.

During chapel they told us how they had seen their classmates shining. We heard about students that said kind and encouraging words, about students that teach others how to play soccer or hockey, and about students who share things with others.

We then listened to the Grade 5 students sing a song in French. They had re-worked some of the lyrics to tell us about how they are lifting up the names of people they know before God, names of their friends who do not know Jesus. The names were displayed in glowing colours as they sang the song.

Thank you, Grade 3-5 students for sharing with us and inspiring us to shine, to use the gifts that God has given to us and be a blessing to others.

May we always, “let our light shine before others, that they may see our good deeds and glorify our father in heaven.”
