Career Day!

By Heidi Blokland

Today was Career Day, a fun dress up day where all the students dressed up as what they want to be when they grow up. There were a lot of creative costumes …. from nurses to artists to police officers to astronauts!

We began the day by joining together in singing songs of praise to our God, the creator of work and careers.

Then we shared how our careers can help us build the Kingdom of God.

Police officers help people to get along.

Bakers make food for people who are hungry.

Professional hockey players can give some of their salary to help people in need.

We got into our Kingdom Building groups and were given a special challenge. Each group got a bunch of supplies – straws, balloons, toilet paper rolls, pipe cleaners, tape, etc. They needed to build the highest and most creative structure to hold a wooden block. The groups worked hard. How wonderful to see everyone working together.

And the results!

The tallest structure was 134cm. Well done!!

We are thankful for every opportunity we have to work together, building relationships and building God’s Kingdom.
