Amazing Applesauce! - Kindergarten PBL

By Heidi Blokland

The Kindergarten class began this school year learning about apples. Our project was to create an applesauce recipe and make a huge batch of apple sauce for the Morrisburg Community Supper hosted by the Pentecostal church.

We started by investigating and learning the parts of an apple.

A trip to Dentz’s Apple Orchard allowed us to see and learn how apples grow.

We spent time learning about the process – how do you get from apples to applesauce?

We then experimented and tested different ingredients to make our Amazing Applesauce!

Check out the recipe we created:

20 McIntosh Apples

1/4 cup sugar

1/8 cup honey

1/8 cup maple syrup

1 tsp cinnamon

And finally, Applesauce Making Day arrived! We spent an amazing day washing, cutting, cooking, mashing and stirring up the most amazing applesauce!

The result was many happy people enjoying applesauce at the Morrisburg Community Supper. We are thankful that we could help build God’s kingdom through applesauce!
