Mission Timothy Christian School is an independent elementary school that educates children through Christ centred quality programs that combine faith and learning.
History The Timothy Christian School Society was first formed in 1955, and the school has been in operation since 1963. In 1969 the classes were moved from temporary locations into the present, seven room school building, 2 kilometers east of Williamsburg. Enrolment in the school, from JK to Grade 8, is averaging 130 students.
Purpose The school was founded by parents who felt the urgent need for positive, God-centered education for their children. The parents recognize that they are responsible for what their children learn at school, as this forms part of the over-all training of their children as referred to in Proverbs 22: 6 and Deuteronomy 6:7. The basis of the Society is the Word of God, the Bible, which is held to be the infallible revelation of God.
Organization Timothy Christian School is a
society controlled school with the School Board made up of parents and supporters
who are members of the school. Once each spring and fall there is a membership meeting which offers the members an opportunity to express themselves, and to decide on matters regarding the school.
Academic Standards To ensure a high standard of education all subjects receive the time allotments recommended by the Ontario Ministry of Education, and its curriculum requirements are amply met. Qualified teachers are employed, chosen on the basis of their academic training, teaching experiences, and spiritual maturity. Even though English is the main language of instruction at Timothy Christian School, the school amply meets the Ministry of Education requirements for French as a second language. Education, with emphasis on the "Basics", takes place in the self-contained classrooms in a fairly structured and well-disciplined atmosphere. At present the pupil - teacher ratio at Timothy Christian School is approximately 20 to 1. The school is regularly inspected by the Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools, and, upon request, by the Ministry of Education of Ontario. Regular visits to the classrooms are also made by the local Educational Committee made up of parents. Graduates of the school have consistently done well academically at the local public High Schools, and at Redeemer Christian High School in Ottawa. Many of the graduates of Timothy Christian School have pursued and are pursuing further education at colleges and universities.
Tuition Fees At the present time the school must be financed completely by tuition fees and donations, since no financial support is received from the provincial government. Tuition fees are determined by the members at the annual spring membership meeting of the Society. For more information about tuition fees please contact the school.
